Firstly a happy new year to you! (If a little late!) I hope you had a great festive period! I thought I would take this opportunity to look back at 2016, which turned out to be a great year! Then also a chance to look forward to a new year.
At the beginning of last year if you had told me how well some the events I took part in would go I wouldn't have believed you! Starting out in photography has to be one of the most nerve racking things I've ever done! I am so grateful for all the support I received to make everything possible, so thank you! A special thanks particularly to my local church Holy Trinity Church, Redhill! Most of the year was dedicated to putting on my first solo exhibition back in May, which is how everything began. I then went on to do a few more events that were equally successful and will probably become a regular thing.
Back in May my Through my Eyes exhibition showcased a large amount of my images, which took a lot of organising! I used the exhibition to launch T J Blumire Photography and test the water to see how my work would be received. The response was overwhelming and everyone was incredibly complimentary! This has given me a great deal of confidence going forward. On a more personal note the best thing was the opportunity to share something I love doing with so many people.
Later on in the year I also did couple of sales at my local church. The first for Operation Christmas Child, which was a fantastic thing to be involved with! (Look them up if you have the time they are a great charity!) It was great to see people's continued interest in my photography, even if most had already seen my work. This continued with a Christmas Card Sale. This was particularly good fun as I put together some ice images as Christmas cards.
So now to 2017! Well I have already been especially busy working on a violin and harp composition and it's been really nice to focus on my second love for a bit. For those of you who don't know, music has always been a big part of my life even before I got into photography. I've been singing in my church choir for as long as I can remember. (Maybe from about 7?) I also once played the harp until I was unable to continue. This was mainly through my dad being a harp maker, but that's another post I think! Anyway after the disappointment of having to stop playing the harp I later took up composing and that's how I'm where I am today.
Back to the photography, I'm hoping to do at least 3 different events through the year. I'm also planning to have a go at some landscape photography and lots more besides, so watch this space! So that's all for now and thanks for reading. (If you got that far that is!)
